Overview


As educational institutions continue to adjust in a changing and uncertain world, many advancement teams are doubling down on digital fundraising. Building on timeless fundamentals while incorporating progressive techniques and emerging technologies, fundraising programs are finding effective ways to engage and solicit donors online, strengthening their base of philanthropic support.

2:45pm - Break (30 minutes)

3:15pm - Pushing Out Your Messages

Discover how to create effective social content, leverage texting, and make the most of targeted paid advertisements.

4:00pm - Small Group Breakouts

Engage in small group discussions with colleagues to talk through issues, exchange ideas, and participate in problem-solving exercises.

4:45pm - Wrap-up/Homework Assignment

Learn how to mine digital data to uncover prospects for gift officers and other marketing efforts.

2:00pm - Small Group Breakouts

Engage in small group discussions with colleagues to talk through issues, exchange ideas, and participate in problem-solving exercises.

2:45pm - Break (30 minutes)

3:15pm - Bringing It All Together

Explore how to develop a cohesive and effective fundraising strategy by integrating messages, schedules, and resources across multiple channels.

Jeremy Allen | UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

Jeremy Allen is Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Individual Giving at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, where he leads a team focused on alumni and parent engagement, individual giving, and advancement communications. Previously he served as Senior Director of Annual Support and Advancement Communications at Kenan-Flagler, and prior to that he held leadership roles in advancement at Elon University and the University of Northern Colorado. Early in his career, Jeremy served as a high school history teacher in Greensboro, NC. He is a speaker and mentor with CASE, a board member at Cary Academy, and a campaign volunteer at Elon University. Jeremy holds a B.A. from Elon University and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

 

 Brittany Shaff | University of Miami

Brittany Shaff serves as the Assistant Vice President of Digital Engagement + Philanthropic Giving for the University of Miami. In her current role, she oversees an integrated annual and digital engagement team committed to creating innovative tools and strategies to increase annual revenue and alumni engagement. Prior to joining Miami, Brittany served in development leadership roles at the University of San Francisco, Johns Hopkins University, and Towson University.

 

Dan Allenby | Principal & Founder at AGN Resources

Dan is an author, speaker, and consultant who has worked with academic institutions for over two decades to train their advancement staff and volunteers. A recipient of the prestigious CASE “Crystal Apple” award for teaching excellence, Dan is an internationally-recognized expert on annual giving and alumni engagement. He chaired CASE’s Institute for Senior Annual Giving Professionals and its Annual Giving Workshop for five collective terms and served on the faculty for CASE’s Summer Institute in Educational Fundraising. His book—Ideas for Annual Giving—offers the latest designs for helping institutions increase annual giving and boost alumni participation. Previously, he served as the Assistant Vice President for Annual Giving at Boston University, and also led annual giving and member marketing efforts at Tufts University, Georgetown University, and the National Geographic Society. Dan received an MBA from Boston College and a BA from James Madison University, and a certificate in the Management of Communication Organizations from Tufts University.
