Reports to: Associate Director of Advancement

Berkshire School’s Advancement team works to inspire the community’s philanthropic and volunteer investment in Berkshire’s mission and views the integrity, security, accessibility, and organization of data as essential to its ability to fundraise on behalf of the School. Reporting to the Associate Director of Advancement and supported by the Director of Data Integrity and Research, the Director of Advancement Services is responsible for the setup, maintenance, security, and proper use of Berkshire’s fundraising database, The Raiser’s Edge. The Director of Advancement Services is a full-time, exempt, 12-month staff position in the Advancement Office. This position is entitled to full benefits with the possibility of a hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement.

Roles and Responsibilities:  

Database Management

  • Oversees the setup, maintenance, and proper use of The Raiser’s Edge including database and web view
  • Administers database security and access for all users in order to protect the confidentiality of constituent information
  • Develops, maintains, and updates documentation of policies and procedures for users

Database Use and Training

  • Identifies training needs across the team and proactively trains new and current users
  • Communicates updates and changes to all users and provides training on updates
  • Manages connections with other platforms (e.g. Graduway, GiveCampus, Volunteer Network Fundraising) and advises on imports/exports

Fundraising-specific

  • Creates, manages, and maintains prospect moves management framework in the web view and develops reports that track metrics and drive accountability
  • Sets up and encourages fundraisers’ active use of NXT work centers
  • Manages reporting, analysis, and moves management in support of an upcoming comprehensive campaign

Advancement Services Workflow

  • Works with the Director of Data Integrity and Research to:
    • Ensure that moves management is informed by prospect research and donors’ giving history, interests, and relationship with Berkshire
    • Provide support with reports, mailings, queries, exports, and gifts processing during busy times as needed

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Expertise in a CRM(s) required, The Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Experience in database management, including creating and running reports, queries, and exports and fielding a range of requests in a team context
  • Record of collaborating with a team and experience training teammates to use the system with confidence and accuracy
  • Experience with integration of multiple data platforms
  • Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum five years of demonstrated success in a leadership Advancement Services role or equivalent
