The Assistant Director, BUSF Annual Giving will work collaboratively with the Vice President for Athletics and Recreation and the Sr Director/DOD to plan and provide innovative strategic leadership and oversight for all current-use fundraising priorities totaling $7(+) million annually. The incumbent will work closely with 34 varsity programs and 33 club sports to plan and execute creative strategies and overall operations centered around sources of athletics leadership and major gifts specific to current-use funding. The individual leads the BUSF Athletics Annual Giving operations, which include producing consistent current-use cash fundraising growth annually for Athletics over the next five years. The incumbent will work closely with frontline fundraisers and BUSF staff sports association liaisons to identify prospects and new sources of potential current-use support at the $10,000 gift level and above.

The BUSF Athletics Annual Fund operation involves management and oversight for all strategic planning and implementation alongside Co-Executive Directors of the Brown Annual Fund and the Director of Data Analytics and Strategic Marketing. The individual will also coordinate on annual fund solicitation plans in close collaboration with senior level fundraisers. The individual will oversee coordination of all BUSF Annual Giving segmentation and direct marketing initiatives strategies and operations, working in close collaboration with the Manager, Sports Foundation Marketing. The incumbent will have oversight for all BUSF annual and reunion giving for all BUSF  annual strategies as part of their oversight of the BUSF Athletics Annual Fund ($4-5M in support annually).

The Assistant Director, BUSF Annual Giving will be responsible for creating and executing the annual giving stewardship plan for the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation in close collaboration with the Sr. Dir./DOD. The incumbent will develop an efficient operation that involves customized stewardship solutions for content creation and reporting. Simultaneously they will oversee all BUSF reporting and analytics in the BrownTogether campaign specific to current-use, endowments, capital projects and strategic initiatives which may involve developing customized solutions for reporting on progress toward campaign goals within current-use, endowment and capital projects. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Sr Dir./DOD and will have oversight for all BUSF annual fund portfolio projections, alongside frontline fundraisers, and will consistently provide projections for the +$200 million Athletics goal as part of the BrownTogether campaign.

Finally, the Assistant Director, BUSF Annual Giving will oversee 3-5 Sports Associations that will be responsible for raising roughly $500K in current-use cash per fiscal year. They will direct efforts through high-touch alumni volunteer management and work to identify alumni and parent prospects within the community of each sport.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience – preferably in the area of development or alumni relations and/or in an academic setting.
  • Experience in athletics annual giving/fund management and/or non-profit annual giving experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communications (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Word processing skills; proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Comfortable with various data management systems; computer savvy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy; Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to be sensitive and diplomatic when working with a vast number of volunteers and donors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents and stakeholders of the University.
