Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy and Call Center

Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Call Center is a professional position reporting directly to the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving. The Assistant Director is responsible for administering several effective and dynamic programs as a strategic part of the University’s Annual Giving program, in its ongoing effort to build a strong culture of philanthropy while securing gifts from alumni, parents and friends.
The Assistant Director will oversee call center operations, including the recruitment and hiring of student fundraisers and supervisors; caller motivation and retention; shift schedules; data analysis; project reporting; implementation of best practices; management of the physical plant; liaising with campus partners and preparing scripts, talking points and collateral. The manager will periodically review short- and long-range goals and re-evaluate overall productivity. A key element of the program’s management and success is the ability to build on existing relationships with several external partners and consultants.
The Assistant Director is additionally responsible for planning and implementing the Senior Gift Committee and the Student Philanthropy Committee, engagement programs designed to educate current students about the importance of alumni and parent support to the university in furtherance of ongoing efforts to establish a culture of philanthropy at Loyola Marymount University.
- Typically a Bachelor of Arts Degree or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
- Minimum 3 years related solicitation and program development experience in progressively responsible positions.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: new media/internet communications, computer and/or database management, volunteer staff management, constituency building, and development fundamentals.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong management skill set. Ability to collaboratively work with students and staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
- Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft and data management systems.
