Assistant Director of Annual Giving

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will contribute toward the team goal of raising $2.7 Million Unrestricted, 14% alumni participation, and $4.5 Million overall in Annual Giving. This member is responsible for the overall implementation of Loyola’s leadership giving program ($1852+). This member will manage a portfolio of prospects with an emphasis on leadership giving in the Washington DC-Boston corridor. In conjunction with the Director of Annual Giving and the Associate Director of Annual Giving, the individual may assist with the management and oversight of leadership level and consecutive giving societies.

The individual is responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects with a particular emphasis on leadership giving in the Washington, DC-Boston corridor. He/she will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects in order to increase the dollars raised each year and in particular during the annual solicitation cycle. Attaining 6-8 visits per month and setting an individual goal to attain $500,000 in annual giving support, this individual will help advance the overall annual giving goals of $2.7 Million Unrestricted, 14% participation, and $4.5 Million Overall. The individual will have the opportunity to solicit annual, multi-year, and planned gifts to assist the team in realizing their annual and overall Advancement goals.

The individual will create and implement a strong leadership giving culture across the University and will collaborate in particular with the Office of Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement, and Major and Planned Giving. In tandem with the Annual Giving team, this individual will help create class dollar and participation goals and help to identify alumni Annual Giving volunteers. In order to create a strong culture of giving during the annual solicitation cycle, he/she will help recruit and manage volunteers to help achieve class goals. The individual will have the opportunity to expand the current volunteer structure. In addition, the individual will have the opportunity to work with Advancement Services to collect and share class-specific giving and participation data in order to increase annual goals.

In collaboration with Advancement Communications, the Director of Annual Giving, and the Associate Director of Annual Giving, this individual will be responsible for working with the class volunteers to help implement a multi-channel leadership annual giving strategy. The individual will also have the opportunity to work with the Director of Alumni Engagement to help staff and market events in the Washington DC – Boston corridor.

In collaboration with the Annual Giving team and the entire University, he/she will help plan a day of giving to assist in increasing alumni participation and dollars across the entire Loyola University Maryland community.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Strong values and passion for Loyola University Maryland and a Jesuit, Catholic education grounded in the liberal arts tradition
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, be a team player and have a high level of energy as well as an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Possess well-developed listening, written, and interpersonal skills with creativity as a mindset
  • Ability to analyze data and have knowledge of multi-channel marketing
  • Sound judgment and in particular as it relates to prospect management and budgets
  • Experience cultivating and soliciting individuals for an annual gift and motivating and managing volunteers
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work some nights and weekends
