Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Development, Individual Giving, the Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving is an essential member of the Mount Saint Mary’s frontline fundraising team focused on mid-level donors. This individual will be responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts from alumnae and friends of the Mount with a specific focus on gifts ranging from $1,200- $25,000 and up. The Associate Director will identify and manage a portfolio of current and/or lapsed donors and will create individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies and timetables with a focus on building diversity in their donor portfolio. This individual will strategize and oversee execution of a variety of donor and volunteer cultivation events with a focus on those pertaining to Reunion and Class Gift Campaigns; organize and conduct phone calls and personal visits of a diverse base of donors and donor prospects as well as coordinate strategies for continuous stewardship activities through a wide spectrum of methods of engagement. The Associate Director will also be responsible for the oversight and execution of data analysis and strategic reporting of the Reunion and Class Gift Campaigns. In addition, this individual will work with the Director of Development, Individual Giving and other development team members on other fundraising projects and initiatives as assigned and will contribute to the broader mission of the Institutional Advancement/Individual Giving office to include increasing the overall diversity of the Mount Saint Mary’s donor base.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with IA colleagues, administrators and other staff and faculty to reach fundraising goals; Facilitate communication between administrators, donors, prospects and volunteers, as appropriate.
  • Identify and manage a portfolio of at least 125 annual fund prospects which includes alumnae and friends of the University; Cultivate, solicit and steward annual gift prospects and donors.
  • Complete 12-15 substantive contacts per month with an emphasis on quality personal visits.
  • Identify and evaluate potential donors; design and implement prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies; Focus on retaining and upgrading donors.

  • Ensure predetermined fundraising goals are met, by providing strategy, analyzing progress throughout the year, and working with stakeholders to increase outreach. Meet or exceed assigned fundraising goals.
  • Act as a liaison for Brady Leadership Society (leadership annual giving society) events and serve as primary contact
  • Provide support and direction to Individual Giving on crowdfunding and other digital campaigns (ie. Mount Day of Giving, and #GivingTuesday)
  • Partner with Alumnae Relations on reunion giving campaigns to maximize peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge: 

  • Understanding of sophisticated fundraising techniques, donor relations and trends. Strong working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database system, computers in general and Microsoft Word, Excel and Office software applications.

  • Computer proficiency (strong experience with Raiser’s Edge) and general office skills.
  • Experience with GiveCampus preferred.
  • Ability to drive and provide transportation to off-campus locations.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: 

  • 2-5 years previous frontline fundraising experience; higher education experience preferred
  • Skill to meet or exceed fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate on projects and assignments.
  • Ability to travel and attend weekend and evening events.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and quickly discern complex and competing interests.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and with external constituencies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.

Additional Information

Work Location: Both Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles) and Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles)
