Job Purpose: Reporting to the Director, Annual Giving, the Associate Director Annual Giving is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive annual giving program focused on shaping sustainable growth in donor count, broadening the base of support, strengthening the major gifts pipeline, and providing annual operational support for Pomona College.

The Associate Director, Annual Giving is a key member of the Annual Giving team and will help to build a best-in-class annual giving program at one of the national’s leading liberal arts colleges.  This work is accomplished in collaboration with Advancement division colleagues as well as other colleagues across the College (such as the Career Development Office, Admissions, and Student Life). The Associate Director will create a multi-channel annual appeals strategy in coordination with the Director Annual Giving as part of the College’s annual fundraising, and in preparation for the most aspirational, comprehensive capital campaign in the history of the College.

The Associate Director Annual Giving will work in partnership with other relationship builders throughout the College, the Advancement Division, including Advancement services; Principal, Major, Leadership and Annual Giving; and Advancement communications and Events and data and administrative staff within the Office of Annual Giving. The Associate Director, Annual Giving may be responsible for hiring, processing personnel paperwork for, and directly overseeing one or more student employees in the office. This position may serve as a backup for the Director, Annual Giving as needed.

 Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, liberal arts field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver’s license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of fundraising, sales, communications or related experience is required. 2 years of experience at an academic institution is preferred.
