Associate Director of Annual Giving Outreach and Engagement

Summary:

The Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement will exercise professional fundraising and decision-making skills as part of an energetic team in a dynamic environment. This position requires a self-starter who has strong written/verbal communication skills and well-developed computer skills; a high standard of integrity; the ability to work with and motivate others; and, is well organized, flexible and creative. The applicant should also possess solid interpersonal skills; the ability to work in a team-oriented environment and work well under pressure while handling multiple tasks; be successful in meeting deadlines; be able to work independently, and be willing to travel. Main responsibilities include organization of phone outreach, supervision of 40 student staff, and volunteer management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Marketing for annual giving and Phonathon to include: Develop and implement use of Phonathon scripts and materials associated with the Phonathon program; Create student solicitation messaging and segmentation strategies; and Assist in developing messages, timeline, and segmentation strategies for Annual Giving solicitations; participate in overall planning of the annual fund.
  • Student involvement in working and accessing students to include: Identify, recruit, train, and manage the student callers to include up to 40 part-time employees; Maintain student callers’ personnel files, and prepare and submit caller payroll; Co-Advises, with the Young Alumni and Student Programs Coordinator, the Trinity Student Ambassadors. This group of Trinity students educate their classmates on the importance of university philanthropic support and represent the University at events with alumni, parent and other donors; Mentors student leaders and is responsible for volunteer management; and Lead on working with Ambassadors on various student and alumni stewardship and solicitation programs.
  • Program and Management to include: Prepare, track, and coordinate Phonathon program budget and cost projections; Track Phonathon program progress against measurable outcomes, analyze results, and formulate methods for improvement and produce regular reports on the analytics and share plans on improvements; and Advise the Senior Legacy Committee in pursuit of senior class gifts.

Experience: 

  • Required: Over 1 year to 3 years of experience
  • Preferred: Over 3 years to 5 years

Skills:

  • Required: Familiarity with basic fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to identify, train, and motivate volunteers.
  • The ability to work in a collaborative environment, to handle multiple tasks, to meet deadlines, and to work independently and creatively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in problem-solving in a practical, diplomatic, and effective manner.
  • Regular evening and weekend work required.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel a must.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
