Position Summary:

The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for building, planning, implementing and managing programs and activities that strategically engage alumni in support of the mission of Yeshiva University. The Director is expected to create opportunities for alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; to collaborate with faculty and staff in key administrative offices such as Admissions, Athletics, Career Services, the Provosts office, Campus Life and Student Affairs; to create and maintain new pathways for alumni engagement that advance the goals of the University; to maintain effective relationships in order to identify potential prospects who are willing to support the University. The Director of Alumni Engagement reports to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement. He/she will have regular contact with both professional and lay leadership in addition to the greater alumni network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and execute programs and initiatives that help the University meet its key alumni engagement goals
  • Build and alumni engagement program to involve alumni residing in strategic locations around the world with the goal of cultivating connections to the University
  • Recruit volunteers and identify volunteer leaders
  • Foster life-long relationships with alumni from different geographic areas by initiating events and contacts that provide educations opportunities, professional networking and social interactions between and among alumni students, faculty and the University
  • As a member of the Institutional Advancement team, identify potential alumni donors to the University and work with colleagues to engage them
  • Facilitate and promote the immediate involvement of students in Alumni Engagement prior to graduation and communicate the advantages of their involvement, including a class gift coordinated with Annual Fund Giving
  • As a partner with Annual Giving and in collaboration with Communications and Marketing, oversee the active management of a full social media and digital marketing campaign, including an interactive web community, alumni events calendar and e-announcements
  • Work closely with Institutional Advancement colleagues in Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Communications to ensure seamless communications and coordination around advancement and institutional initiatives
  • Manage information received daily about alumni and input into the CRM system
  • Supervise, mentor and evaluate Development Associate in Alumni Engagement
  • Assist with direct reports professional development
  • Work with IA Senior leadership to formulate department metrics
  • Oversee and balance the budget for Alumni Engagement
  • Perform comprehensive data analysis related to all aspects of programs and activities targeting
  • Lead and support annual Alumni Engagement planning, including setting measurable goals and strategically evaluating success
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for continued development and improvement

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Eight or more years of higher ed alumni event and program management experience, within the context of a greater fundraising environment

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills
  • High level of proficiency with web-based resources
  • Understanding of the philosophy of relationship management in a fundraising environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to and execute the Universitys mission
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team with a broad spectrum of colleagues
  • Deadline and detail oriented
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced environment
  • Strong initiative, high energy, flexibility required
