Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Annual Programs, the Donor Engagement Specialist oversees the young alumni and student giving programs as well as manages the recurring gift program and stewardship efforts. Donor engagement activities, in addition to solicitation activities for the recent graduate and student populations, are essential components of the unit-wide strategic plan to increase the overall donor pipeline.

The mission of Annual Programs is to create a philanthropic culture that will lead to increased charitable support for Georgia State University and its students. The Donor Engagement Specialist is part of a team of 5 that works toward building a donor base which will structure the pipeline that moves potential prospects into leadership gift levels.

Responsibilities

Young Alumni Giving Program

  • Manages and analyzes the young alumni giving program/campaign.
  • Develops, maintains and executes program goals and strategies to increase retention and donor acquisition rates, coordinating strategies in collaboration with the Director, Annual Programs.
  • Develops and implements solicitation calendar and communicates necessary deadlines to appropriate parties.
  • Designs and creates solicitation and marketing materials in collaboration with Annual Programs team and PRMC.
  • Analyzes and reports results on success of program.
  • Proactively creates and manages partnerships across the university to enhance the young alumni giving program.

 Recurring Gifts Program

  • Designs, creates and implements the recurring gifts program.
  • Develops goals and strategies to incorporate recurring gifts into the work of all annual giving campaigns.
  • Creates and implements solicitation and stewardship plan for program.
  • Benchmarks success of the program with other similar universities.
  • Analyzes and reports results on success of program.

 Student Giving Program

  • Manages and analyzes the student giving program.
  • Develops, maintains and executes program goals and strategies to increase retention and donor acquisition rates, coordinating strategies in collaboration with the Director, Annual Programs.
  • Designs and creates marketing materials, including solicitation and engagement emails.
  • Collaborates with the Annual Programs team, Student Alumni Association, and PRMC.
  • Develops and implements solicitation calendar and communicates necessary deadlines to appropriate parties.
  • Analyzes and reports results on success of program.

 Stewardship and Communications

  • Provides department-wide input and support to overall stewardship and website activities.
  • Manages social media and web content for young alumni and students related to annual giving programs.
  • Works collaboratively with donor relations team to survey and analyze donor interests and provide appropriate engagement opportunities.

Administrative Support

  • Provides administrative support to the Director, Annual Programs related to budget and purchasing. Manages reimbursements and expense reports, as needed.  Coordinates logistical details for special projects for Annual Programs team.
  • Serves as a liaison to 3-4 college/units on behalf of the Annual Programs department. Meets and communicates regularly with development officers to discuss specific college/unit strategies, analyze and report results, and add strategic fundraising opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with campaign and/or annual giving experience.
  • Knowledge of the Blackbaud application software Raiser’s Edge.
