Oldfields School, an all-girls international boarding and day school, grades 8-12, located in northern Baltimore County, seeks applicants for a Director of Alumni Programs. This is a full-time, exempt position with a July 2021 or sooner start date. This is an outstanding opportunity for a person with a high degree of integrity and a deep commitment to the value of a single sex independent school education.

The Director of Alumni Programs is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs, events, and initiatives that strategically engage alumni in the life of the School, as well as the coordination of on-campus events and off-campus gatherings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement programming for alumni and other constituents, including opportunities for alumni to engage and connect virtually.
  • Manage the Class Agent program and coordinate Alumni Association activities.
  • Plan and implement off-campus gatherings and on-campus events, including Fall Family Weekend, Thanksgiving Dinner, Holiday Dinner, 100 Nights to Graduation Dinner, speakers for the senior class, Grandparents’ Day, Alumni Weekend, Garden Party, Banquet, Awards Ceremony, and Graduation.
  • Create, maintain, and update event invitations, RSVP lists, scripts, budgets, and checklists.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the Oldfields Parent Association and manage the activities of this group and recruitment of volunteers.
  • Serve as a member of the Development and Alumni Relations Board Committee.
  • Assist with the creation of content for social media, website, e-blasts, and Oldfields Magazine and the content of the alumni section of the website.
  • Assist in identifying, stewarding, cultivating, and recognizing prospects, volunteers, and donors.
  • Help ensure accurate and complete database records, including tracking alumni and parent engagement and collecting materials for the archives. Collect, edit, and format Class Notes and milestone announcements from alumni for Oldfields Magazine and record them in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Cultivate graduating students in their transition to active alumni.
  • Actively engage and support the School’s commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community as defined by the School’s Diversity Statement and strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the School to establish and strengthen relationships with a wide range of alumni and donors, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, through ongoing outreach.
  • Adhere to and assist in enforcing all School policies and procedures.
  • Promote the mission of the School.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated, professional experience and increased responsibility for a nonprofit organization, preferably in an independent school or in higher education. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior alumni relations experience a plus.
  • Strong oral communication skills to address both internal and external audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills including persuasive letters, newsletter articles, social media, miscellaneous correspondence, timelines, and reports.
  • Enthusiasm for developing, nurturing, and strengthening relationships, while creating opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of event planning.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office programs, relational databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge, as well as with social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), and other content management technology.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness in a busy office setting and willingness to function as a collaborative team member.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Experience recruiting, motivating, supporting, and managing volunteers.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as warranted by meetings, events, or other department needs.
