Reporting to the Sr. Assistant Vice President (SAVP) for Donor Relations, Planned and Annual Gifts, the Events Manager is responsible for oversight of all events managed by the Division; i.e. Homecoming, Reunion, Parents Weekend. This role will assist in event planning, dissemination of event information, coordination of event attendees and reports production that will be shared with the SAVP, VP and President. In addition, the Event Manager will provide follow-up to attendees as appropriate. An ability to multitask, thrive under pressure and provide excellent service to members of the Springfield College community is essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • In collaboration with staff within the division provide leadership, planning, direction and management of all division events.
  • Accurately register event attendees and alumni affairs to ensure seamless events for the Springfield community.
  • Support SAVP to identify events that best support the mission of the college and other projects as assigned.
  • Track metrics to reveal a pattern of attendance, ROI etc., for all events.
  • Utilize and engage campus partners (President’s Leadership Team, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, coaches, etc.) in the development process as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure events are marketed to appropriate constituencies. Responsible for writing content of these communications and strategizing with colleagues about how best to reach all audiences.
  • Work to promote a positive and productive team dynamic among the staff, including promotion of information sharing, best practices, and creative and innovative techniques that lead to successful outcomes.
  • Attendance at staff, departmental, and institutional meetings as required. Participate in College committees, representing the Division as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, however an associate’s degree with a combination of equivalent educational and work experience is acceptable. Prior event experience in higher education is desired.

Knowledge:

  • Database and data processing.
  • Blackbaud.
  • Google suite, Microsoft suite including excel.
  • Trends in digital engagement and philanthropy.
  • Metrics and predictive analytics for fundraising and fundraisers as they relate to events.
  • Springfield College community and campus setting.
  • Customer service concepts and best practices.

Skills:

  • Project management.
  • Staff management.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Computer/Digital proficiency: database, word processing, presentation, digital philanthropy platforms, analytical tools, other.
  • Interpersonal/customer service skills, via telephone and in person.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing short- and long-range initiatives to meet established priorities. • Ability to direct and manage volunteers.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate activities and special events.
  • Adjust priorities as necessary, independently as well as in conference with SAVP.
  • Foster effective working relationships within a team environment, leading by example.
  • Apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Computer & Software:

  • Proficiency with Google products, Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint & Word, and Blackbaud constituent database.
