The University of Kentucky Office of Philanthropy is seeking creative, professional, and entrepreneurial candidates for its next Director of Annual Giving. Managing an office of five professional and support staff, plus nearly 60 student employees, the successful candidate will be motivated, data-driven, well-spoken, and politically savvy. The Director of Annual Giving will join a successful and growing team of philanthropy professionals at one of the leading higher education institutions in the nation, currently immersed in one of the more ambitious comprehensive campaigns in the industry.

Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of Philanthropy Administration, this position will provide leadership and direction to the annual giving staff, mentoring, assisting, motivating, and evaluating them in their collective efforts towards broadening the base of philanthropic support among alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, and students. Focusing on alumni and donor prospects with the capacity to make gifts or pledges of less than $25,000, the successful incumbent will manage budgets, establish policies and procedures for annual giving, steward relationships, and represent the Office of Annual Giving with high-level University staff and administrators.

Managing comprehensive annual giving strategies across multiple solicitation channels including direct mail, phone, e-mail, and digital giving, the incumbent will also be responsible for annual giving programming activities including UK’s very successful giving day, faculty/staff campaigns, student philanthropy (including oversight of the Center for Student Philanthropy, a first-of-its-kind resource for students interested in learning more about philanthropy as a service and as a profession), and various giving societies.

A key component of any comprehensive annual giving program is the ability to display exceptional analytical skills and an in-depth knowledge of data management systems. The ability to interpret reports with an eye toward data-driven decision-making and the ability to “turn on a dime” with regard to annual giving strategy is also critically important in this position. The successful candidate will display these traits and be able to develop and implement sound fiscal, annual, and multi-year strategic planning for annual giving.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, December 19th 2019.
